    I was on the 185 drivers, but the 190 drivers were what I needed:

    1) Add this repository
    https://launchpad.net/~nvidia-vdpau/+archive/ppa

    2) install the 190 drivers with ...

    sudo apt-get...

    I've got the same problem with a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10 on a Macbook Pro 5,4... Been wanting to keep an eye on the core temps because there's supposed to be issues with the sensors in Karmic.

    The only part that doesn't make sense to me is installing grub to /dev/sda ... can't you install it to /dev/sda3 (as per the generic install instructions) if you still want to use rEFIt to select...

    Instead of down mass update downloads for dapper at home, I've come to university and used a script generated by synaptic to wget all the updates from my university's local repositories. Very nice....
