How to debug kernal panic ?
i doubt it is not hardware . The dual booted windows 7 runs perfectly . And its completely random . And i updated with compat wireless driver to fix the negative channer number bug for aircrack ....

My system goes into kernal panic and doing some search on the forum got me this.
1.It could be wireless driver bug
2.It it is exposed when some one nearby switches on a n/g wifi router that...

As of now , after the removal of acpi the problem has not reoccured .

It happened again , this time while playing a movie on totum .
I was running top on another terminal just to see cpu usage .
Now remove acpi , let me see if it happens again after the removal.

The scenario was this :-
I just downloaded the acpi using synaptic...
I just copied each and every line from the above for that matter :-)
did use compat-wireless-2010-10-16.tar.bz2 - so it should have patched correctly.
Thing is none of the aircrack command...

And one more thing I noted is I am able to control the screen brightness using the battery ->preference
But that is only when plugged in .

The Brightness control in my Sony vaio is a
a combination on a key named Fn + Function keys(F5 up / F6 down)
Similar combo for the Volume works fine , but the brightness doesn't .
