exactly
I don't know why it gives the wrong BusID, I only know it does.
all G5's have the BusID as I gave you in the xorg.conf file
this is the xorg.conf you need:
Section "Device"
Identifier "FX5200"
BusID "PCI:240:16:0"
Driver "nouveau"
Option "Monitor-DVI-I-1" "ADC_Port"
...
I reverted to nv in the end but there is a solution for your card and nouveau as driver. This xorg.conf file will work:
##only difference is Virtual entry in this one is square "Virtual 1680...
sudo nano /etc/modules
you enter a text editor
scroll down and add the following lines:
snd_aoa_i2sbus
snd_aoa_fabric_layout
snd_aoa_codec_tas
snd_aoa_codec_onyx
then CTRL-X and "y" to save...
rsavage: do I notice some humor in your response ?
http://lists.debian.org/debian-power.../msg00063.html is a wrong link in the FAQ....

You can boot with KMS disabled by adding the following kernel command:
nomodeset
so suppose in yaboot, Linux is your Ubuntu installation, you'd type
Linux nomodeset
you could also try...
Have a look here:

In principle I would...
have you tried gnome-alsamixer and try to unmute some channels ?
You can also have a look at my (very outdated) page:

old, but maybe of interest:...
Try a connection with WPA security. Be sure that you upgrade the firmware in that card to the latest with OS9.
Maybe this will help:

You have to use a PowerPC version of Linux.
ok, PowerBook G3 Pismo with MintPPC 11 / Debian Wheezy without xorg.conf:
3.2.0-2-powerpc
processor : 0
cpu : 740/750
temperature : 19-22 C (uncalibrated)
clock : 400.000000MHz...
Thanks for this. I added a link to this post in the MintPPC forums as well.
I could not get nouveau repaired. What I did was revert to nv. I even got it working for the iMac G5 20, which suffers from the 2 pixel screen shift. I made a patched version of the nv package...
I guess you have a PowerBook with an nVidia card in it. I run MintPPC 11 and a recent update in xserver-xorg made my G5 iMac with a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra card behave the same way as you describe here...
have a look at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for a start...
maybe you can try to restore firmware by using this CD:

I have seen more peoplw with your kind of problem. A little search in this forum yielded this thread:

Try the suggestions to list the devices as reported in the manual to boot from USB in the MintPPC 9.2 installation instructions. Basicaly you need to find out whether open firmware sees the bootable...
