You rearrange titlebar buttons often?
Yes, everything must have a GUI to be effective and easy.
gnome is just as configurable as kde, maybe a smidgin less...maybe
The difference is in HOW you configure it. The million-monkey designed KDE control center or the simplified gnome control center...
or maybe a newsreader called PAN ?
vague? heck, downright confusing sometimes style, decoration, theme, border, color, look, karamba, what......???
You dont feel that many other things in life are similar yet different and you manage those just fine?
How did you ever get familiar with firefox? Was you eased thru the transition somehow? Was...
and everyone else lives in that same world... My kids dont have cellphones. Do not know what facebook or myspace is. I often have to explain how to do anything on a computer beyond very basic usage -...
Do you'll have problems when you switch cellphones? microwaves? alarm clocks? cars? Do you feel uncomfortable? Do you need to be eased into the transition? Isn't that part of what is cool about...
uh my kids are 13 and 7 and have basic knowledge of how to operate a computer, they are not techno whiz kids or anything. At most they get one hour of game/funtime a day and they can choose the...
Seriously, people cannot turn their brains on/off so how could it be offensive? Thats like saying pull the bottle out of your ear - it is a funny way of calling attention to something.
A user who...

I am not insulting users who value familiarity. I am stating that I think users need to turn their brain on and realize that they can operate something that is similar even if it is not the exact...
of course not...
but I thought this thread was dealing with firefox 'easing' the transition which would imply that it is hard to use something that may be slightly different than what you are use...
true...there probably are transition issues
People know next to nothing about their windows system and expecting them to figure out anything more that that for linux is likely doomed.
How many...

Right, it is pointless as it is. Whereas if people actually offered some support/justification for their preference it would be nice instead of just saying one is too...
I would think if you can manage one browser you can manage any browser. I cant imagine people making a decision to use ubuntu based on the browser. I did get a giggle from the idea of that though......
Well, they do add some back occasionally. You can always pop sawfish back under gnome if you miss sawfish that much.
:)
Well, it isnt freedom in the general sense it is software freedoms in a very specific sense. It is limiting but I find nothing wrong with limiting the ability to not share and improve something that...
It is still way too difficult to convert windows users to linux. gimp is still way to superior than photoshop. I support free software very much and the Gimp has really impressed me. There has been...
free as in free beer or free as in freedom?
You like being asked a ton of questions. I would think a default action with a option to have it ask would be sensible. Personally I just want it to do something. If it doesnt do what I want then I...

she looks really good but doesnt cook, clean, or bring home da bacon....
For me, kde is much less feature rich and less complete than gnome. It's nice and all that, but for me, gnome is the only real desktop.
If that is the case then I am surprised they arent staying away from windows too. Unless the blind leading the blind inspires confidence. No actually they stay away because they dont care about...
