I successfully upgraded 11.10 to 12.04 and installed MySQL-workbench.....
But each time I try to use it stops responding any crashes
Any suggestions how I can fix this please?

I did an install of Fedora 16 to its own set of partitions, followed by Ubuntu 11.10 to its own set of partitions.

Further to this, if I plug the Vantec hub into a USB2 port on the back of the PC I can see the drive and partition it.
Just when I plug it into the port on the LaCie PCIx card I get no action.

I have a DELL PC and I have tried a number of times to upgrade to GRUB2.
Result random "GRUB LOADING" then blank screen and no GRUB menu...other times (ie after power off/power on) I get the GRUB...

I have managed to successfully upgrade my iMac (dual boot Mac OS X and now Ubuntu 10.04) after resolving some initial problems with Grub. I always like each Ubuntu release and 10.04 is excellent! ...
I did do sudo update-grub but the changes would not stick...no change to resolution and splash image does not appear.
Even though update-grub said it found the image and I can see the resolution...

I do have rEFIt installed.
I went ahead and did grub_install /dev/sdd.
All seemed to be ok, until I rebooted.
It complained it was waiting for a file system!!
On the iMac internal disk I have two partitions after Mac OS X.
/dev/sda3 linux-swap
/dev/sda4 /boot
Then on external firewire drive I have the following:
/dev/sdd2 /
/dev/sdd3 /usr...

I have dual boot Mac OS X 10.6.2 and Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit.
I am using rEFIt and then it goes to GRUB2.
/dev/sda (has amongst other things a linux-swap and /boot partition.

Rebooted system, went into rEFIt terminal.
Did gptsync, it said partitions were already sync'd
Did restart and selected Legacy OS icon.
Went to GRUB> prompt again

After having a few issues I did a fresh install of 9.10 on my iMac.
It all finished ok and then wanted to restart.
It came up to rEFIt and I selected the Legacy OS option and it said Starting...
At long last I have got nearly everything working after the 9.04 to 9.10 upgrade.
So I want to move from GRUB to GRUB2.
I have an iMac 8,1.
