Apache is asking me to download PHTML files when going to a php file.

PHPmy admin works. But i cant load up any php files. I used the apt-get to install php and apache and everything. ive cleared the browser cache. i added .php and .phtml handlers in apache2.conf any suggestions?

I should clarify this only happens on the user account pages of localhost/~user

if i do everything in the /var/www/ folder the php works fine and everything is good.

So does anyone know why apache would have PHP working on the main /var/www/ location, but when i try it on the user account folder (public_html in home folder), it doesnt work? When i try to use PHP in the user account space it asks me to download PHTML. THis only happens on lucid.

Found the answer in the /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5.conf file:

My setups were breaking this weak because of this problem, when my server builds were fine for 6 months straight. Really glad firefox hinted it as pHTML and led me eventually here.

Chrome just simply downloaded it, lol.

Is something wrong with the mpm-worker, because I just installed a new VM LAMP and can't figure out why I keep getting this same problem! Went to mpm-prefork and problem still exists.

My 9.10 Karmic VM LAMP (mpm-prefork) from a fews months ago is working fine. Trying to look at both configuration to see what is different with no success.

Any suggestions?

I should have posted when I rebooted the system everything now works properly. Being that I have my domain name pointed to my Home Office, for some reason it was doing loops from my Registar to my server and didn't know what to do. Because it was checking the internet first instead of my host file.

My other non-registered development site worked fine.
