Mic. does not work with Skype in Kubuntu 10.04

Sound and Mic. work very well in Kubuntu 10.04. But in Skype I tried to make a call the other person cannot hear me. I also tried the "Test Call" provided by Skype and changed the Mic settings but nothing happed I still cannot hear my voice form the "Test Call" but I hear it through my speakers when I speak directly.

In other words: Skype does not catch my voice from the Mic.

    Thank you
    Mohammad

Hi, when you say you changed mic settings do you mean you changed them in the audio control panel of the OS or do you mean you changed them under 'options' in Skype?

Yes, I mean under 'Options' in Skype.

I find I have a minimum of two michrophones according to the dialog box that comes out when I click "Sound Preferences..." in the volume control when I click that off the panel containing it.

On my laptop it is referring to the internal mic and the 3.5mm jack for a microphone and on my desktop PC(s) I've assumed it is referring to the rear mic jack and the front mic jack because I plug in around the front and then I use the volume control applet to show me which one picks up a noise.

Does your system show you two microphones under 'sound preferences'? If so then please select one after the other and speak into the microphone until you see the meter move and then select that microphone in Skype.

If this resolves your issue then please mark this thread as solved using the 'thread tools' above - if it doesn't just post again!

I clicked the Mixer and found 'Mic' and 'F-Mic'.

I tried to mute 'F-Mic' then nothing happened. I hear my voice in the speakers.
Then I tried to mute 'Mic' and my voice muted completely. But in Skype i cannot find Mic!
I found there hardware names only.

    I am sorry.

I found that F-Mic for built-in mic and Mic for Headphone mic.
If I muted F-Mic then it mute the built-in one.
And the Mic for the headphone.

I think I misunderstood you, try to explain in details please.

Re: Mic. does not work with Skype in Kubuntu 10.04

Don't be sorry - I rechecked options available in skype and I see it only lists input device and doesn't let me specify which Microphone to use. That makes it that the microphone chosen under 'sound preferences...' should be the one your system 'presents' to Skype to use and just being able to record sound (or hear it back through your speakers without recording) should mean you already have the correct microphone selected there.

Is it saying 'PulseAudio server (local)' in your 'sound devices' in Skype options? If not then can you select that and try again - if result is same as before then please tell us all devices listed in that window in Skype.

(I am at work right now and may not be able to post again for about 5 hours when I knock off!)
